The inhabitants of Oz are standing with the striking actors.
Jon M. Chu, who is directing the upcoming two-part, live-action Wicked film adaptation, has released a statement in support of the striking actors from the movie, and in doing so, also gave fans an update on how the film is progressing and if the release date will have to change.
Many blockbuster films have paused production due to the strikes, including Gladiator 2 and Deadpool 3, so fans might be worried that Wicked will be delayed for the same reason.

“Not done yet,” Chu said about the movie in an Instagram Story post. “Just paused until the strike is over and we can finish the last pieces of the movie. We were only a few days away from being done so we were SO close.”
“It’s been very painful to put a halt to it all but we will be back,” he continued. “And we will finish properly strong when the time is right.”
“My heart goes out to our cast and crew who were cut short of what we came here to complete together,” he added.
Chu went on to say that he’s excited to go through the already filmed footage and that the release date for the movies shouldn’t be affected by the strike. The first of two Wicked movies is currently slated to come out on November 27, 2024. The second movie will come out a year later.
Wicked stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. It also stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, and Ethan Slater as Boq.
