As WorldPride DC 2025 approaches, two events stand out as defining moments of the celebration—not just because of who will be there, but because of what they stand for.
The WorldPride Human Rights Conference, happening June 4–6 at the JW Marriott, and the International Rally and March for Freedom on June 8 will bring together voices from around the world to champion equity, inclusion, and collective action.
These events aren’t just part of the schedule—they’re the soul of what WorldPride is about.
A Global Forum for Real Conversation
Set in the heart of the U.S. capital, the Human Rights Conference will gather activists, policymakers, scholars, and creatives to unpack the biggest challenges—and opportunities—facing the global LGBTQ+ community. The three-day event features panels, workshops, and keynotes focused on intersectional advocacy, inclusive policy, and meaningful representation.
Confirmed speakers include:
- Dr. Lady Phyll (UK Black Pride)
- T.S. Madison
- Courtney Act
- Yasmin Benoit
- Iceland’s Minister of Industries, Hanna KatrÃn Friðriksson
- Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, Episcopal Diocese of Washington
- Leaders from GLAAD, HRC, and the LGBTQ+ Victory Fund
It’s not just about talking points. It’s about sharing strategy, building coalitions, and creating momentum that lasts long after June.

A March That Matters
On Sunday, June 8, the energy of the conference spills into the streets for the Rally and March for Freedom. The march pays homage to DC’s long-standing legacy of LGBTQ+ activism, from the first gay rights picket in 1965 to the historic 1979 March for Lesbian & Gay Rights.
Tens of thousands are expected to participate, including community organizers, allies, advocates, and everyday folks who want to show up for something bigger than themselves. Whether you're carrying a flag, holding a sign, or simply walking beside others, this is a chance to be part of a collective stand for justice.

Why DC Is the Right Place, Right Now
Washington, DC is more than the backdrop—it’s the blueprint. With 14.3% of residents identifying as LGBTQ+, the highest in the nation, and 36+ national LGBTQ+ organizations headquartered locally, the city is built for moments like this.
And in a year that marks 50 years of Pride in DC, the timing couldn’t be more meaningful. As legislation and rhetoric around the world continue to target our communities, the need for visible, united resistance is urgent.
