The couple's divorce filing allegedly shows that Geffen, 82, and Armstrong, 32, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split. And yet, new details about this divorce are slowly coming to the surface.

Whether you're catching up on this story or learning about it for the first time, Out is here to outline noteworthy details about this relationship, marriage, and subsequent divorce.

When and how did David Geffen meet David Armstrong?

Geffen and Armstrong have been notoriously private about their relationship, and have not shared too many details about how they met and started dating. Yet, certain media outlets have reported details shared by anonymous sources that were identified as being close to the couple.

"The pair reportedly met in 2020 when Armstrong served as a personal trainer for Geffen," The New York Post reported. In the public eye, the world got its first glimpse of the couple when the record label founder posted a photo of them together on his $400 million mega yacht.

After they met, an alleged friend (who asked to remain anonymous) told The New York Post that Armstrong "was always looking for his next adventure and was really determined to improve his life."

A 2023 report from The New York Post spotted the couple together as they landed at a heliport in New York City heliport.

Both Geffen and Armstrong were spotted wearing gold bands around their fingers when they were spotted in these pictures.

Is David Armstrong gay?

It's unclear how Armstrong identifies, but news outlets have gathered some information about him over the years.

Namely, the same 2023 report from The New York Post spoke with an alleged ex-girlfriend of Armstrong's and "said she only knew Michaels to date women."

This unidentified ex-girlfriend added she wasn't "surprised" when she learned about Armstrong getting married to Geffen. "I mean, [Armstrong is] very attractive,” she told The Post. "He would tell me people just assumed that he was into guys from what he posts on Instagram."

She added, "I know that he was getting comments like that from gay men: That he was really attractive and in really good shape."

Geffen and Armstrong didn't sign a prenuptial agreement before their marriage.

Geffen and Armstrong didn't sign a prenup before they got married — as previously stated in the People report.

On the other hand, a report from TMZ suggested that there might not be a lot of money available for Armstrong during this divorce process. Geffen has been retired for 15 years according to those reports, and most of his income comes "stocks and other equities" according to TMZ.

The news outlet also highlighted that California state law labels stocks and equities as "separate property." In other words, Geffen might be required to pay spousal support for half the length of their marriage, which wasn't very long.

All things considered, TMZ argued that Armstrong might not get that much actual money during this divorce procedure.
