Lil Nas X keeps pushing forward with the honors and career milestones with his way-beyond-a-smash-hit song, "Old Town Road."
The song just went 14 times platinum, making it the highest-certified single ever, cementing Lil Nas X's status as a true superstar.
The singer celebrated on Twitter, posting "OLD TOWN ROAD IS OFFICIALLY 14 TIMES PLATINUM! MOST PLATINUMS FOR ANY SONG EVER! LETS GOOO!"

When the song came out in 2019, it stayed at number one for a record-breaking 19 weeks. The previous record was 17 consecutive weeks, held by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day" and "Despacito," by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber.
The Recording Industry Association of America declares a song platinum after it reaches a million streams and Lil Nas has done that 14 times with this one song. Other songs that have been certified more than ten times platinum include the aforementioned "Despacito," "All of Me" by John Legend, "Bad Romance" by Lady Gaga, and "Firework" by Katy Perry.
When it comes to streaming, "one equivalent song unit is equal to a single digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams," according to Billboard.
"Old Town Road" ended up taking home two Grammy awards, one for best pop/duo performance and one for best music video. The song also won two MTV VMA's including Song of the Year.
That's not the only good news Lil Nas X has gotten in the past week. His most recent single, "Holiday" was also just certified Gold, meaning it has sold 500,000 copies. This follows other accolades like a Billboard Music Award, making history as the first out gay man on Forbes' list of highest-paid country acts, winning an American Music Award, winning a Country Music Award, and more.
