Father's Day is an opportunity for people across the United States to celebrate the men who raised them — whether or not that connection was biological. This is also an extra-special day for those who have two gay dads.
Gay fathers are some of the best dads in the world, and many of them have important stories that should be told. In recent years, LGBTQ+ representation for fathers in television has grown to include some beloved characters and performances.
Whether they are main characters on a TV show or just make quick appearances during an episode, these gay TV dads left a lasting impression on us.

They both have adult children who must learn to adapt to the new family dynamics.

Matt Bomer plays the dreamy and ditsy Jerry in the hilarious sitcom Mid-Century Modern about three older gay friends who move in together in Palm Springs. While Jerry unfortunately doesn't get to see his daughter (Billie Lourd) very often, he happens to be working as a flight attendant on one flight that she is on in an episode, and they have a touching conversation.

Another animated series with gay dads is this Netflix fantasy show. The elf couple, Runaan and Ethari, never officially adopt Rayla, but while they are caring for her, they treat her like their own daughter.

Of course, no list of gay TV dads would be complete without America's original fave gay dad himself, Mike Brady. So what if Mike was the proud (allegedly) cis-straight father of a blended family of six children and was the first TV husband to share a bed onscreen with his TV wife.
Actor Robert Reed was gay, and his portrayal as Mike Brady on The Brady Bunch showed generations of children and families the meaning of fatherhood.
